Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds closed out their destination concert event last night at Moon Palace on the Riveria Maya in Cancun, Mexico, with a 21-song main set and special sit-ins, including an appearance by Trey Anastasio during the first encore.

The concert kicked off with a Dave Matthew’s solo performance and live debut of “Something to Tell My Baby.” Reynolds joined in on the next number, “One Sweet World,” off the 1993 LP, Remember Two Things. Next, the duo played Daniel Lanois’ “The Marker,” followed by “What Would You Say,” “Fool to Think” and “Where Are You Going.”

The main set continued with a debut of “Walk Around the World,” followed by fan-favorite “So Much to Say.” Reynolds delivered a solo “Steam” before Matthews returned for “Little Thing” and “Too Much.”

The duo busted out “Black and Blue Bird” next, last performed at the 2018 iteration of festivities. They continued with “27” off the 2009 EP Little Red Band. Next, Tim Reynolds played a solo cover of Led Zeppelin’s “Kashmir.”

During the latter part of the set, the duo was joined by keyboardist Buddy Strong who sat in for bust out “When I’m Weary,” last played on Nov. 30, 2018. Next, the trio broke into an “American Baby” introduction to set up “Lying in the Hands of God” and featured “Bourbons & Lacs” interpolations, followed by “When I’m Weary.” 

For the final four songs of the main set, Dave and Tim were joined by Bernardo Aguiar, Gabriel Policarpo, in addition to Buddy Strong, who remained for a selection of classics that included “Warehouse,” “Don’t Drink The Water,” “Minarets” and “Ants Marching.”

For their first encore, Dave and Tim were joined by Trey Anastasio who sat in for a cover of Phish’s “Waste” followed by DMB’s “Everyday.” Like in 2020, Anastasio sat in prior to his own destination concert event which kicks off on Feb. 24. Read more here

Dave Matthews returned to the stage solo for a second encore. He opened up with “Some Devil,” then Reynold joined in for his final stand on “Rapunzel.”

For their third encore, Matthews took the stage alone for a single song performance of “Singing from the Windows” to finish their destination concert event.
