Last night, John Mayer played his first live headlining performance in two years for SiriusXM and Pandora’s Small Stage Series at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles. As the Sob Rock guitarist was playing his seminal song “Slow Dancing in a Burning Room” he noticed a fan who appeared to be fainting.
As soon as he noticed Mayer said, “Stop the show,” and the mic cut. Mayer asked, “Are they conscious?” Medical personnel waded through the crowd. After they arrived Mayer said, “They’re conscious. Gibe me a thumbs up if they’re alert.”
The band left the stage for several minutes as the unidentified individual was treated and safely wheeled out of the venue. When Mayer and his band returned he updated the crowd saying, “Anyone in the crowd who’s worried, I’m told that she’s up and waved goodbye, so she’s okay. The system works, thank you very much.”
Chris Gardner, a staffer for The Hollywood Reporter captured the series of events below:

Mayer’s latest album, Sob Rock, was released in the summer of 2021 and he will embark on a tour to support the album starting Feb. 17. In January, Mayer was forced to back out of Dead & Company’s Playing in the Sand events in Mexico after testing positive for COVID-19.
