Yola took the stage as the musical guest on Tuesday night’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The English singer-songwriter performed “Dancing Away In Tears,” a track off her Grammy-nominated 2021 album, Stand For Myself.

Arising out of the melodic introduction of guitar and smooth synths, Yola appeared on stage with a transformed artistic perspective. The sophisticated cross between soul and classic pop serves as a stark contrast to her more traditional, retro-soul sound.

Yola soothed the audience during “Dance The Tears Away” with her resonant tone as she voiced the feeling of heartbreak. Although her lyrics tell the story of a reluctant breakup, the groove of the drumbeat inspires listeners to dance.

Prior to embarking on a solo tour this spring, Yola is scheduled to perform at Brandi Carlile’s Girls Just Wanna Weekend destination event at Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya, Mexico on Feb. 1 through 5.
