Robert Plant and Alison Krauss have shared their contribution to NPR’s Music’s Tiny Desk Concert series with an at-home performance recorded at the Sound Emporium studio in Nashville, Tenn. The duo recorded their most recent album, Raise The Roof at Sound Emporium and appropriately shared three songs off the LP for the mini-concert.

The two led an all-star band for the performance backed by Viktor Krauss on electric bass and guitar, Stuart Duncan on guitars and ukulele, percussionist Jay Bellerose, JD McPherson on guitar and Dennis Crouch on upright bass, all of whom, except McPherson, played on the original recordings of the songs.

The performance kicked off with the rockabilly melodies of Lucinda Williams’ “Can’t Let Go.” After which, Plant recalled “Searching For My Love,” a Bobby Moore & the Rhythm Aces track he heard as a 15-year-old. Plant shared, “Finally just a couple of years later here I am able to sing it and share it with my really good friends,” before breaking into harmony with Krauss. They closed their performance with a track penned by Allen Toussaint and recorded in the 60s by Betty Harris “Trouble With My Lover.”

Robert Plant and Alison Krauss are set to embark on a world tour next summer support of Raise The Roof. The tour marks the Plants and Krauss first shows together in 12 years.
