Last night, Bob Dylan performed his first live set since Dec. 2019 at the Riverside Theatre in Milwaukee, Wis. The performance was flush with debuts; it featured eight new songs off his latest album, Rough and Rowdy Ways.

Though Dylan has been absent from the live stage, he was still prolific when it came to releasing material during the pandemic. He performed the critically acclaimed Shadow Kingdom concert and more recently shared The Bootleg Series Vol. 16: Springtime in New York 1980–1985. During the performance, Dylan also played three tracks that were featured during the Shadow Kingdom concert.

Along with the sonic debuts, Dylan also announced some personnel debuts as well. Guitarist Doug Lancio and drummer Charley Drayton are officially the newest members of Dylan’s touring band.

The hiatus marked Dylan’s longest time away from the stage in decades. The Never Ending tour started in 1988 and has provided fans with over 3,000 shows since its inception.
