John Mayer has shared a new version of “Last Train Home” one of the standout tracks off his latest album Sob Rock. The ballad version features Mayer singing at about half the speed of the original and extends the three-minute timestamp of the original to a cool five minutes 57 seconds.

For the video Mayer trades in his leather jacket with a popped-up collar and ’80s synth fills for a slick wool blazer and smoother contemporary arrangments; he does, however, retain his hot pink PRS.

While “Last Train Home (Ballad Version)” still holds the heart and vouge of the ’80s that Mayer pushed through the release of Sob Rock it also serves as a vehicle to show how musical styles evolve over time.

John Mayer will be kicking off an arena tour in the winter of 2022. Find the full dates below.
