Last night, My Morning Jacket played their first show since 2019 at the Charlotte Metro Credit Union Amphitheatre in Charlotte, N.C. During the course of their performance, they debuted seven fresh, original songs, five off of The Waterfall II and two off of My Morning Jacket, which was announced just days ago.

Over the last few years, the band played just three concerts in March of 2018 and four shows in August 2019. Since their departure from performances and the start of the pandemic, they released The Waterfall II in July 2020 and recorded their self-titled album, which is set to release in October.

My Morning Jacket opened the show with the debut of “Regularly Scheduled Programming,” a lead single released as the band announced their new project. They then played “Compound Fracture,” which led to “Feel you,” the first The Waterfall II debuts of the evening. They then played “Spring (Among the Living)” off The Waterfall I, which flowed back into The Waterfall II through the debut of “Run It.”

The band continued to play songs off their discography; soon, the second My Morning Jacket debut, “Lucky To Be Alive,” came about midset. Later in the evening, My Morning Jacket debuted a run of songs with “Climbing the Ladder” and “Spinning My Wheels.” The final debut of the evening was “Wasted.” They closed the set after “Wasted” with the aptly titled 2011 track “Victory Dance.”

The encore began with the band’s iconic 2005 track “Wordless Chorus” and “Lay Low.” My Morning Jacket had two more tracks before they sent the audience on their way with a combination of “Touch Me I’m Going To Scream Pt. 2” and another classic, the celebratory “One Big Holiday.”
