LOCKN’ Music Festival has pivoted away from its October 2021 weekend toward a new format dubbed LOCKN’ Farm, bringing together a handful of marquee performers on the weekends of Aug. 13-15, Aug. 20-22 and Aug. 27-29 in Arrington, Va.
Weekend one will feature six sets of Joe Russo’s Almost Dead with additional performances by The Slip. John Medeski and Billy Martin will also host some late-night activities in Garcia’s Forest.
Weekend two has been named FRED The Festival, with host band Goose welcoming friends like Dawes, Dr. Dog, Cory Wong, Hiss Golden Messenger, Grateful Shred and more. Goose will also unplug with an aGOOSEtic Trio set.
Finally, the LOCKN’ Farm offerings will end with Saturday/Sunday performances by Tedeschi Trucks (featuring Derek Trucks, Susan Tedeschi and a number of their frequent collaborators). Jon Batiste, The Marcus King Band, Lettuce and Gabe Dixon Band will also join the festivities.
“LOCKN’, the music festival, has had an amazing run, with hundreds of thousands of fans witnessing countless epic performances and collaborations by hundreds of legendary artists,” LOCKN’ Farm Promoter Peter Shapiro said via press release. “Given the realities of COVID-19 and the world we now live in, it feels like the right moment to do something new and a bit more intimate, while keeping the best of what the four-day festival has offered since 2013. This August, LOCKN’ will become a weekly destination — LOCKN’ Farm — a place with a history of good vibes and magic, and instead of hosting a single annual festival we will sprinkle the LOCKN’ spirit across multiple music and camping weekends. Positive things often emerge out of challenging times, and LOCKN’s evolution from a single-weekend festival to a place where bands can host their own special events is going to be one of them.”

FAKE DAVE THE SLAVE
June 4, 2021 at 10:49 amI have to believe this is the beginning of the end for this venue/festival. Paid $happpy over $1000 per ticket in 2013 for a killer lineup but a 10′ patch of spray painted grass and a lot of broken promises and services not delivered. $happy still whined he couldn’t make money on the camping then. I guess no one notable wants to play this year? Where are his buddies like Phil and Phish that he kowtowed to in the past?

June 3, 2021 at 2:57 pmDoes this mean the end of Lockn? The way the message was worded leaves me to believe it won’t happen ever again. Totally sad if true.

June 2, 2021 at 1:09 pmGood luck with that… Long way to go for bands I’ve never heard of outside the one “headliner”.

June 2, 2021 at 3:08 pmWhile your comment still holds some truth… how can you not have heard of these musicians/bands yet visit this site? Outside of the various reformation of Goose, they’ve all been around the jamband scene for some time…
