Demand for Dead & Company’s 2022 Mexico destination event, Playing in the Sand, is so high that it has sold out before general onsale.
Tickets – which include room and board – were snapped up by the event’s initial alumni pre-sale, and organizers are currently “exploring options that would allow [them] to satisfy as much of the demand as possible. These options include potentially adding an additional weekend of Playing in the Sand 2022.”
The highly-anticipated gathering is set for Jan. 13-16, 2022 at the Moon Palace resort in Cancún, Mexico.
Potential ticketbuyers are asked to join the Playing in the Sand waitlist here.

I cannot say I agree with BV PIRLO. I think the fact that there are core members together, the weather are two factors that play a role (summer too).
Do I think Mayer adds to the popularity…indeed. Unfortunately in the comments section on Jambands it seems more than half of the comments on Mayer are negative and ridiculous. I have no problem listening to Mayer rip it up.
Most of us agree that the songs need to speed up. Are they just trying to distance themselves from the GD? I’ll still have fun at the shows!!

1) I hope they add a second weekend.
2) This thing should be set up more like a lottery. It makes zero sense to me why they only open the event to people that have gone before. So anyway that hasn’t gone before can’t go? What about people that for some reason couldn’t go in years past, but may have spent 40 years of their lives seeing Dead shows? They’re locked out just because they missed last year?
3) If they DO add a 2nd weekend, I sure hope they allow only those that haven’t already purchased packages already. At least until a few weeks have gone by. What if those that bought the 1st decide to go to both? Sell to fresh people. If there’s availability after a few weeks, ok then sell to those who have purchased already. I don’t know how they’d enforce that though. Other members in the party can be the main record holder, so they would never know.
Ok I’m ranting.
I know I am sounding like an old grouch, but it’s frustrating to say the least.
