In celebration of the late Toots Hibbert’s birthday (which is today, Dec. 8), Controlled Substance Sound Labs (in collaboration with DubShot Records) have shared a never-before-seen video for “To You,” which marked one of Hibbert’s final studio recordings and videos.

The video sees Hibbert join Roots Radics, which features bassist Errol “Flabba” Holt and guitarist Earl “China” Smith. According to a press release, “the footage from the video was shot during one of his last recording sessions, prior to his tragic death on September 11th, 2020.

Hibbert passed away earlier this fall due to complications with COVID-19. “It is with the heaviest of hearts to announce that Frederick Nathaniel ‘Toots’ Hibbert passed away peacefully tonight, surrounded by his family at the University Hospital of the West Indies in Kingston, Jamaica,” read a statement from Toots & The Maytals. “The family and his management team would like to thank the medical teams and professionals for their care and diligence, and ask that you respect their privacy during their time of grief.”
