After a tropical storm canceled their first performance of the weekend, Greensky Bluegrass shook off the cobwebs for their first-ever drive-in run on Oct. 30 and 31 in North Carolina.

Night one’s highlights included the band’s first “Carolina in the Pines” since 1/26/2008 – marking a show gap of 1505 – as well as a massive Last Winter in the Copper Country> What Happened to Jim?> Last Winter in the Copper Country segment in the second half. Their night one encore solidified the band’s hopeful outlook as they head into their 20th year, grinning along to Foreigner’s “Feels Like The First Time.”

The next evening, while the band’s Halloween costume embraced a techy, futurist vibe, they started the evening by continuing a throwback to their early days, as they offered single-mic meditations on classics like “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot” and “Shady Grove.”

In contrast to their opener, the band worked through their songbook through the two-set show and looked ahead for the encore, offering a trio of new originals – namely, “Rolling On,” “Stress Dreams” and “Grow Together.”

“What a pleasure it was to finally get to play live music to a crowd again,” GSBG wrote on Nov. 1. “Thanks to all who came out to support and streamed the shows the last few nights. It’s been an honor to get to create and share our music with you for the past 20 years and we look forward to what the FUTURE holds! Also a huge shout out to our crew for all of their hard work this weekend, we couldn’t do what we do with out those guys. We hope to see you all again soon!”
