The Disco Biscuits marked another lap around the sun this week. For the first time in their extended history, the Philadelphia natives hosted a Boston New Year’s Eve, taking Beantown by storm with live appearances on Dec. 30 at the Royale and Dec. 31 at Roadrunner. Over the course of their 2025 finale, the band mapped their setlist with a plethora of intentional moves, packing in specialty moments ranging from debuts to Tractorbeam remixes that adorned the night.
Before the arrival of their New Year’s Eve spectacle, the band–Marc Brownstein, Jon Gutwillig, Aron Magner, and the band’s newest member, backbeat Marlon Lewis–warmed up for their holiday concert by performing on Dec. 30 at the Royale. During the precursor to the annual reset, the band pulled out a completely segued first set. It featured “Mirrors” into “Abraxas,” “Simulations,” and “Mr. Don,” which was left unfinished in favor of “Shelby Rose.”
Set two brought a similar energy of nonstop collisions: songs performed one on top of the other without pause. During this round of songs, the ensemble picked up “The Overture” and placed “Caves of the East” ahead of the “Cheers Theme,” a nod to the city where the popular ‘80s sitcom took place. Coming out of the latter, the band delivered “Story of the World,” and continued by pushing through “Fire Will Exchange” and “Bombs” with a “Kernkraft 400” Zombie Nation jam.
An inverted “Confrontation” ensued before the group reprised their set two opener, returning to “The Overture” before capping frame two. The Disco Biscuits played “The World is Spinning” for their final encore ahead of NYE. The band’s arrival at Roadrunner was billed as the “Boston Techno Party,” and it lived up to the title. After a relatively expected opening set, the band worked into their follow-up: “Rivers” flowed into “We Like to Party,” followed by “Shadow,” and a nod to Robyn S. with a first-time cover of “Show Me Love.”
The ensemble transitioned their debut into “Cyclone” before looping back to “We Like to Party.” The onset of their third frame coincided with the final moments of 2025, which included an onstage skit during “Neck Romancer,” left unfinished and given the techno treatment ahead of the New Year’s countdown, alongside Charlotte Dewitte’s “Hymn.” Follow-up “Helicopters” received a “Happy New Year” lyrical change before the early morning debut of Jeff Mills’ “The Bells.”
Next, Alice Deejay’s original “Better Off Alone” was played by this group for the first time–notably, members tried out the number while performing as Tractorbeam, their all-instrumental project, on Nov. 1, 2025. An inverted “Ring the Doorbell Twice” rang into “Rock Candy” before the absolute final move of the event, which arrived as a return to “Helicopters.”
The Disco Biscuits will take time away from the road following their New Year’s romp. Their next live appearance is billed for Feb. 6 at the Miami Bandshell, ahead of Jam Cruise’s Feb. 7 launch from Port Miami.
