Continuing their plan to drop five EPs within the year, Dirty Projectors have announced their upcoming Super João release, out Sept. 4.

The new EP will feature the bossa nova inspired “Holy Mackerel,” for which they have also released a brand new music video.

Explained frontman Dave Longstreth, “This cycle of EPs is about growth, transition, liminal space, shifting identity. Alan Ginsberg had a phrase ‘first thought, best thought’ to talk about a particular kind of writing – not automatic writing exactly, but quick, spontaneous, trusting. For me, these songs are about rediscovering that place.”
