Neil Young has always been a politically-minded artist, but since becoming an American citizen he’s been more vocal than ever, speaking out against the Trump administration and now standing against tech titans like Google and Facebook.
Young has begun the process of removing social media log-ins from his Neil Young Archives website, now only allowing fans access with an email address.
“Facebook knowingly allows untruths and lies in its political ads to circulate on the platform, while bots sow discord among users,” Young writes. “Sowing dissent and chaos in our country via political disinformation is something we can not condone. Simply put, Facebook is screwing with our election.”
The endeavor will cost the site $20,000, but Young’s team is strong in their resolve, adding in another message, “We know it’s not convenient, but we believe we will be better for it. ‘Quality whether you want it or not!’”

NYA DAYS AWAY FROM DROPPING SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORM
We have been working on this project for a couple of months. Trying to disengage from the corrupt social platform is a costly and time-consuming process for NYA. Our cost will be almost $20,000 to disengage, while treating our subscribers with respect, making it as easy as possible for them to continue with us after Facebook.
The money we are spending to get out of this mess is designed to make it as easy as possible for our valued Facebook users to log in simply and securely to NYA without the social media platform involved in any way. It is in keeping with what we have been maintaining re: the irresponsible social media platform for the past two years.
NYA strives to be a place where music lovers can get all of my music at its highest quality, while keeping up on news and views from around the world that we wish to share. We are primarily a music platform featuring all the background information, films, videos, and credits associated with each piece of music we present while offering unparalleled listening quality.
thanks for your support,
NYA

August 18, 2020 at 2:59 pmI grew up listening to Neil- but he is a typical Hollyweirdo. He is so out of touch living his lifestyle of a king. He sucks now. He should just retire until his lifestyle runs out of money because I won’t be supporting him anymore. He needs to take a lesson from Willie Nelson and leave politics out of his music because according to Wille “you lose 50percent of your audience “ and trust me he will !! Biden is the one hiding in the bunker you moron!

August 12, 2020 at 6:20 pmFreedom of speech does not apply to private for profit companies. These sites do not have to publish anything, yet they make very little attempt to remove outright lies and hate speech. Never been on Twitter and quit Facebook years ago and I.m better off without it- a complete wast of time. I don’t need virtual “friends”. I have real, in-person friends.

August 12, 2020 at 9:00 pm^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ This guy gets it! The rest of you, including Neil Young, have been brain washed by for profit corporations under the guise of giving you social “power” for free…

August 12, 2020 at 6:16 pmI gave up fb the day Cheeto head signed his “immigration law”, back in Jan 2017, when I got to see how many of the people I grew up with were right wing racist homophobes. Haven’t missed it one bit.

August 12, 2020 at 4:37 pmThe problem with social media is that it allows anyone to publish anything, with no editorial discretion. The lack of editors is what sets it apart from other media, and without them there’s too much crap that gets through.

August 12, 2020 at 3:27 pmPersonally I’d like to see more artists, celebrities and influential people follow Neil’s footsteps. If you have paid attention to what’s going on with the censorship by social media giants maybe you’ll understand just how much it’s crippling free speech. I was just reading how Facebook reported taking down millions of posts this year during the pandemic, saying that it’s misinformation. Some perhaps are but many contain commentary from leading experts in health science economics along with politics. Google and Twitter are just as bad. While not agreeing with everything, I feel it’s really dangerous to when free speech is being threatened. We live in the US which the last I checked still has its Bill of Rights. M

August 12, 2020 at 12:25 pmGood grief Neil, give it a break. Anyone whose life revolves around FB & Twitter are already brain washed and aren’t likely to change their their votes for only 1 of the 2 possible chumps. Besides, where is my limited edition Neil Young signature PONOS refund?
