Dark Star Orchestra’s Jeff Mattson has churned out a series of livestream performances during quarantine. For his next edition, which will air on Sunday, July 26 at 4 p.m., Mattson will finally go live with a guest: his DSO bandmate, bassist Skip Vangelas.

This Sunday’s livestream will mark Mattson’s eighth live performance, during which the guitarist performs “classics & obscurities, originals, and the Good Ol’ Grateful Dead.” (Quote via press release.) While the previous performances have been solo, this will be the first true “& Friends” performance.

Vangelas joined DSO as the full-time bassist in 2013, replacing Kevin Rosen. He had previously played with the band for a couple of shows in 2001.
