The LOCKN’ Festival has announced new safety protocols for the Oct. 2-4 event (including a “Steal Your Thursday” party on Oct. 1.)

New requirements include masks in all public areas, physically distant stage viewing, encouraged cashless transactions with wristbands, distanced campgrounds and increased sanitation throughout the Virginia event grounds.

Additionally, all attendees will be required to undergo health screenings before entering the music festival, and everyone will be required to stay the entire weekend, purchasing either three or four-day passes.

“We are exploring ways to incorporate a mobile testing lab where people can take a test at the main entrance to the farm and get their result on-site quickly, prior to entering the campgrounds, as a way to minimize potential exposure,” reads an official announcement. “Additional health screenings will be administered each time you enter the venue, and any individual presenting COVID-19 symptoms will not be permitted to enter. This will be the case for everyone entering the Blue Ridge Bowl venue, including staff, vendors, artists, and attendees.”

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, LOCKN’ rescheduled from its initial June 19-21 dates to the aforementioned autumn dates. The music lineup for the reworked event has yet to be announced.

LOCKN’ 2019 was particularly memorable, with Trey Anastasio and Tedeschi Trucks Band offering a surprise, full recreation of the legendary Derek and the Dominos’ record Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs.

“This list is only a snapshot of our current thinking,” LOCKN’ concludes. “As we learn more over time, we will continue to update you. We are here for you and we are excited to see you again soon. If anyone can follow the House Rules and have fun at the same time, it’s our LOCKN’ family!”
