New Orleans torchbearers Galactic have updated their 1996 cut “Something’s Wrong With This Picture” for 2020’s ongoing protests against police brutality, featuring additional vocals by Ivan Neville and Anjelika “Jelly” Joseph alongside the original vocals by late frontman Theryl “Houseman” DeClouet.
“In light of the current events,” bassist Robert Mercurio said via press release, “we felt the original message of this song has a very strong relevance today.”
The video was shot in NOLA’s historic Tipitina’s club – which was purchased by Galactic in 2018 – with Neville (who just recovered from COVID-19) and Joseph chronicling real-life struggles of the black community.
Added drummer Stanton Moore, “Faced with the gravity of recent events, we felt that redoing this song now would hopefully spread a message of awareness. We believe that we need to do more to show that we stand with our Black musicians, friends and heroes against violence, injustice and inequity. We will not be silent. Black Lives Matter.”

June 5, 2020 at 2:52 pmMany realize that Violence is just that and these protests are only making it worse. Hence 2 black policeman killed over the last week but hardly ANY mention by the media? Very hypocritical there eh? 90% of black folks are killed by black folks, so Facts state we should start there maybe? And again, violence sucks!
