Neo-soul duo Black Pumas have shared a new in-studio version of their track “Oct 33,” which originally appeared on their breakthrough, self-titled LP.

“It all happened organically,” guitarist-producer Adrian Quesada told Relix of the band’s origins. “A couple studio sessions in, [singer Eric Burton] started playing me his songs. I’d seen some videos of him, and I liked that he was playing guitar and singing. I thought, ‘It’s not like your typical soul or funk frontman.’ He had a vibe of someone like Neil Young. When we got about eight or nine songs into it, we were like, ‘OK, this is cohesive. Maybe we should make this an official thing.’”

Pending the constant shift in the summer schedule due to COVID-19 Black Pumas are set to perform at major festivals like LOCKN’ and Electric Forest.
