Trey Anastasio Band began their 2020 Winter Tour last night at the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, N.Y. The show was peppered with references to Anastasio being stranded on and subsequently rescued from a suspended platform during Phish’s New Year’s Eve show at Madison Square Garden.

The show began with TAB’s debut cover of The Beatles’ “I’m down” as a nod to his rescue on New Year’s Eve. During the first set, the band played four Phish staples: “Set Your Soul Free,” “Undermind,” “Blaze On” and “Camel Walk.” During “Blaze On,” Anastastio adjusted the lyrics to reference those online who believed that him being stuck was all a part of the gag. “You think the earth is flat/ You think the Deep State’s true/ You probably think I wasn’t really stuck up there too,” he sang.

The band also played “Love Is What We Are,” which Anastasio co-wrote with Gary Nicholson. (The two also wrote “Rise/Come Together.”) Phish has played “Love is What We Are” once, in 2017; this was the TAB debut. The set closed with “Money, Love and Change.”

The second set began with “Sigma Oasis,” a song that Anastasio debuted solo acoustic. Phish also performed the song during their Fall Tour Charleston run. Later in the set, TAB performed “About to Run,” which was written as a part of Anastasio’s Ghost of the Forest project. The set closed with a trio of TAB favorites: “Gotta Jibboo,” their take on Gorillaz’ “Clint Eastwood” and “Simple Twist Up Dave.” For the encore, the band opted for “Ether Sunday,” “Shine” and “Show of Life.”

Trey Anastasio Band returns to The Capitol Theatre tonight. Check out last night’s complete setlist below!
