On Friday, Karina Rykman celebrated the release of her sophomore album, Late Checkout, with a headlining show at New York’s Webster Hall. Guerilla Toss, who like Rykman have worked at Trey Anastasio’s Vermont studio The Barn, opened the night, and the bassist welcomed several special guests to the stage throughout the evening.

During “Spacecase,” a track of Lake Checkout, Rykman invited Robert Randolph, another musician who came through the New York club scene in his 20s, to the stage for an energetic guest appearance. Then, at the end of the night, Rykman invited Randolph back to stage and also welcomed Dogs in a Pile’s Brian Murray and Joe Babick–as well as a slew of friends that included Melt’s Marlo Shankweiler and her high-school bandmate and onetime podcast co-host Isaac Slone–for a celebratory take on the Beastie Boys’ “Sabotage.” (Rykman brought a similar mix of pals out during the climax of her Webster Hall debut in 2025, too.) Earlier in the show, Rykman also nodded to her influences by offering Paul McCartney’s “Coming Up” as a medley with her own “Easy Rider” and covering The Velvet Underground’s “Cool It Down.”

As previously reported, Rykman performed earlier in the week at New York grocery store Zabar’s in advance of the LP’s release. She will kick off a run of shows at Philadelphia’s Ardmore Music Hall on October 2.
