For this week’s iteration of the “All The Years Live” video series, Grateful Dead HQ is looking back a Winter ’87 for a New Year’s Eve “Bird Song” at the Oakland Coliseum Arena.

The Garcia-Hunter composition arrived at the tail-end of the Grateful Dead’s first set of the evening, and the show was originally aired as a pay-per-view event for any Deadheads who couldn’t make it to the show.

“From the Dead’s first home video of a complete concert, Ticket To New Year’s, this “Bird Song” soars to some pretty high heights, typical of the powerful 1987 renditions of this Garcia-Hunter classic from Jerry’s first solo record,” explains GD archivist/legacy manager David Lemieux.
