Oysterhead have confirmed a pair of 2020 shows. The supergroup, which features Phish guitarist Trey Anastasio, Primus bassist Les Claypool and Police drummer Stewart Copeland, will perform at Broomfield, Colo.’s 1STBANK Center on Feb. 14 and 15.
These shows will mark the trio’s first appearances since a one-off set at Manchester, Tenn’s Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival in 2006. The ensemble first game together for promoter Superfly’s annual SuperJam during Jazz Fest in 2000 (after teasing their collaboration during a Primus show in Burlington, Vt., earlier that year). The musicians quickly wrote a new set of songs for the show and released a full-length LP, The Grand Pecking Order, the following year. Oysterhead toured during the fall of 2001 but have been inactive since then. The band is expected to announce additional 2020 dates in the near future.
A limited number of tickets are available now here. The ticket request period will end Thursday, Oct. 17, at 9 a.m. MDT. Travel packages will also be available and will go on sale Wednesday, Oct. 16, at 12 p.m. MDT. Tickets go on sale to the general public beginning Saturday, Oct. 19, at 10 a.m. MDT.

October 16, 2019 at 11:50 amOysterhead was interesting if imperfect. The songwriting was darker than Phish & seemed influenced by substances but not in a fun way. Also, just a personal pref, but i can listen to the Col play bass just fine but his attempts at quirky lyrics just sound dumb to me.

October 16, 2019 at 11:45 amActually did see Pork Tornado at Toad’s a few months before O-head’s cancelled show. Your assessment is valid.

October 16, 2019 at 11:40 amlulz, some of you need your ears cleaned. You act like this is the best thing ever. It might be one of the worst Phish side-projects, ranking somewhere around Pork Tornado.

October 16, 2019 at 12:03 amExcited, but still, Insane Cash Grab. 2 Arena Shows. Travel packages STARTING at $800 to basically watch 3 excellent musicians rehearse. As Tap so brilliantly said recently, “Jazz is an accident. Lots of wrong notes”

October 16, 2019 at 7:47 amimprov like jazz or so called jam music is not a mistake but experiments looking for something new everyday if the musicians are putting their effort into it. Yeah sometimes it doesn’t work, every DEAD show wasn’t great, but when it does, it is something special. Listen to certain DEAD shows and the magic still comes through decades later.

October 15, 2019 at 4:58 pmThis sounds like fun, but almost $100 with usury fees makes it untenable.

October 15, 2019 at 2:43 pmWhatever meh guy. I was at that Bonnaroo show it kicked ass. Recorded it too still play CD occasionally. It would be better if they did a second album or throw in some Les, Phish, and even Police tunes and play longer sets and do a real tour. But take whatever we get.
