Songwriter Josh Ritter recently stopped by NPR’s Tiny Desk with a few friends, namely fiddler/Highwoman Amanda Shires and singer-guitarist Jason Isbell (the latter produced Ritter’s most recent LP Fever Breaks).

Flanked by Shires and Isbell, with no percussionist, Ritter ran through two tracks off Fever Breaks – “All Some Kind of Dream” and “Torch Committee” – as well as a previously unreleased song dubbed “The Gospel of Mary.”

“Josh Ritter came to the ‘Tiny Desk’ with the enthusiasm of a young child and the wisdom of an old soul,” NPR’s Bob Boilin said. “Each song was filled with frustrations regarding the treatment of refugees, immigration, politics and our hearts.”
