After playing a number of bustouts on Friday night, Widespread Panic continued their acoustic run at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium on Saturday, welcoming rising star Billy Strings for five tunes.

WSP opened their second of three nights with an unplugged version of “I’m Not Alone,” and after reprising “Geraldine and the Honeybee” for the first time since February 2012 (show gap: 396), they surprised fans by welcoming Strings onstage for a jam on “There Is A Time”> “Blackout Blues” to close the first half. (Strings sang on the first tune, and remained exclusively on guitar for the rest of his appearances.)

Widespread Panic’s John Bell picked up a banjo for a solo version of “Ribs and Whiskey” to kick off the second set, and Strings emerged once again midway through the offering to play guitar on versions of “Chuck of Coal,” “Airplane” and “Ride Me High.”

Widespread Panic closed their evening at the Ryman with “Vacation” and “Ain’t Life Grand,” before encoring with “When You Coming Home” (last played: 4/1/14) and “Heart of Gold” (last played: 6/25/16).
