New York’s Mountain Jam Music Festival has added Phil Lesh & Friends to its 2019 lineup, alongside previously announced headliners like Willie Nelson & Family, Gov’t Mule and The Avett Brothers. (Other new additions include Particle Kid, Little Days, Los Coast. Laura Stevenson, The Rock Academy & Ratboy Jr.)

Aligning with the festival’s renewed “Back to the Jam” ethos, the 2019 lineup showcases jam scene regulars like Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, Dispatch, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Twiddle, Amy Helm, The Allman Betts Band and Brandon “Taz” Niederauer.

Warren Haynes, who helped found the festival hasn’t played it since 2016, and returns this year as a presenter alongside Radio Woodstock.

Another Mountain Jam co-founder, Gary Chetkof, told the Poughkeepsie Journal that he thinks the festival’s new location at Bethel Woods “is like the Taj Mahal of sites. What could be more amazing than Bethel Woods and the home of the Woodstock festival? It was really just a matter of going to the promised land.”

Chetkof notes that moving away from the festival’s original home at Hunter Mountain was “very emotional” and also speaks on the new “Back to the Jam” booking approach, saying that the festival “just didn’t have the right balance” in the past couple of years. “We went a little too younger and a little too hipper than we should have. We learned a lot.”
