This year’s Mountain Jam will not take place at New York’s Hunter Mountain.
“This past Monday the organizers of Mountain Jam, which is now under new ownership, informed [Hunter Mountain personnel] that after 14 years the festival will not take place at Hunter Mountain in 2019,” reads a post on the Hunter Mountain Facebook page.
This will mark the first year the annual festival will not be held at the Upstate NY ski mountain. In November 2018, Mountain Jam organizers promised to move the festival’s lineup “back to the jam” countering their recent lineups, brimming with indie performers like Jack Johnson, Wilco, alt-J and Portugal. The Man.
Mountain Jam was originally founded in 2005 by Warren Haynes and Gary Chetkof. For years it hosted jamband-leaning acts like Haynes’s Gov’t Mule and the Allman Brothers Band (whose song “Mountain Jam” gives the festival its name), Medeski Martin & Wood, Phil Lesh & Friends, Umphrey’s McGee, Widespread Panic, Benevento/Russo Duo, Mike Gordon, Tedeschi Trucks Band and more.
There is no word where the event will take place in 2019. Mountain Jam HQ has yet to release a statement.
This story is still developing.

This past Monday the organizers of Mountain Jam, which is now under new ownership, informed us that after 14 years the festival will not take place at Hunter Mountain in 2019.
While we are disappointed to see the festival move, we would like to extend our most sincere gratitude to the many supporters who made Hunter Mountain a successful Mountain Jam venue for more than a decade, including our loyal customers, the Town of Hunter and Greene County.
We remain excited by our 2019 summer and fall event schedule — headlined by the popular Taste of Country festival on June 7-9 — and we will provide our loyal guests with updates on new events and entertainment opportunities as they are added.

February 3, 2019 at 10:53 amFor me ,Mountain Jam will always be Hunter Mountain. The place had as much to do with the vibe as the music. Whatever it becomes and wherever it may go, it’s never going to be the same as the early days and nights on Hunter.

February 2, 2019 at 11:37 amThe Town of Hunter is a sad delapitated place filled with abandoned property eyesores. As you drive along main street you can easily spot these places. If they don’t collapse on their own like the local church did, they are never rented or torn down. Just ignored by the boards, council and feckless politicians who run it into the ground. Smart move by festival organizers.

February 1, 2019 at 4:55 pmAs the current climate for music festivals dies more and mor every year, it’s actually refreshing to see one that’s trying to do it right. Enough with the EDM, Indie Shit Rock, and whatever the fuck Coachella and Bonnaroo Inc. have turned into. Give us back a grassroots vibe, with bands worth all the time and effort, and we’ll show you love back. Fuck the narco dealers and nitrous mafia human scum that infests these too. You don’t want to be hassled? Keep it psychedelic, or sober. Or, just don’t go absolutely batshit crazy. Some of us actually like to watch the bands and remember the shows. Attract more of the music lovers and less of the douchbags and good things will happen. Maybe even a resurgence in quality festivals.
