“When it’s perfect it’s like being lifted out of your body. It’s like you’re not there anymore. And it feels so good,” Dave Matthews says, describing his passion for playing live music.
The DMB frontman was recently featured on CBS This Morning for his ongoing work in his adopted hometown of Charlottesville, Va., including his charitable contributions exceeding tens of millions of dollars.
When journalist John Dickerson brings up the August 2017 protest-turned-deadly that catapulted Charlottesville into national news, the bandleader fights back tears and says, “It’s very hard when you look at what happened in this town, the destruction of a beautiful possibility. And it broke my heart to see that happen. But I do think we can make some beautiful progress out of it.”
Of course, in the wake of the tragic events, Matthews hosted The Concert for Charlottesville, and continues to help renovate the city’s public housing programs.
In other DMB news, the band recently announced their 2019 summer tour.

January 24, 2019 at 1:44 pmLate to the party again folks. This has been out there for a minute. Maybe stop recapping shows of cover bands and you could keep up with real bands doing positive things for their communities. Thanks though.
