Earlier this week, Ryan Adams revealed his plans to release three new studio albums this year—including the first, Big Colors, on April 19—and today the singer-songwriter has shared a preview of that initial record in the form of two tracks that debuted on the radio.
The first, “Doylestown Girl,” is a jangly acoustic number with some self-deprecating love-song lyrics and Adams’ signature lightly reverb-soaked vocals. Listen to the new track below.
Adams also shared his new track “Manchester,” a tribute to the UK city that debuted on a Manchester-based radio station earlier today. Adams also provided a statement along with the song, writing, “Manchester, the city and music of this mystical place shaped my entire life. It is at the heart of all the things I love about music from The Smiths, Joy Division, Oasis, New Order, Simply Red and The Stone Roses. I wanted to make sure this song ‘Manchester’ played first and only in this city I love so much. I hope you enjoy this and cannot wait to be back soon. All the best, Ryan Adams.”
UPDATE: Adams’ second single “Manchester” can now be heard in the video below.
