Native American organizations in North Dakota have announced that they will hold a free concert featuring Dave Matthews and more this weekend in response to the recent Supreme Court ruling to uphold the state’s new voter ID law requiring that all IDs used at voting locations include a street address, a move that some see as voter suppression since many Native Americans only have P.O. boxes listed on their tribal identification cards.

Dubbed Stand-N-Vote, the event will also feature appearances from actor Mark Ruffalo and Native American performers like Antie Beachress, Lakota Thunder and the Dancers of the Northern Plains, Scotti Clifford & Spirits Cry, and rapper Prolific.

According to a press release, “the intent of the event is to take a united stand against rampant voter suppression, not only in North Dakota, but nationally” in anticipation of the November 6 midterm elections, along with encouraging and helping Native Americans to acquire new IDs. Stand-N-Vote will take place on October 27 at the Prairie Knights Casino in Standing Rock, ND.
