On Oct. 29, a group of musicians will gather at New York City’s (Le) Poisson Rouge to honor the memory of NOLA pianist Henry Butler.

Scheduled performers include Amy Helm, John Medeski, Steven Bernstein, Davell Crawford, Richard Julian, Tom McDermott, Raul Midon, Arturo O’Farrill, Paul Schaffer, The Hot 9, Jambalaya, as well as some special guests to be determined.

Known for his prowess at the keyboard, Butler passed on July 2 after battling advanced-stage cancer. He was 69.

Fellow New Orleans staple Dr. John once referred to Butler as “the pride of New Orleans,” and over his storied career he released nine records, as well as three collaborative LPs with James Carter, Corey Harris and Steven Bernstein respectively.
