This fall, Greensky Bluegrass will return to the historic Red Rocks Ampitheatre for two shows (September 22-23). They will also play a special intimate show at Denver’s Ogden Theatre that same weekend.

The band sold out their 2017 performances at the venue, and for their 2018 run they will be joined by supporting acts The California Honeydrops and Turkuaz.

Currently, Greensky Bluegrass is in the midst of their winter tour. This past weekend the jamgrass quintet played a three-night New Year’s run at the Riviera Theater in Chicago.

Highlights included an encore of Dire Straits’ “Money For Nothing” on 12/29 and a “Handle with Care” that contained “Another Brick in the Wall” and “Girlfriend is Better” teases on 12/31. Opening act Billy Strings sat-in with the band throughout the run, including on New Year’s Eve. The singer-songwriter, as well as banjoist Billy Failing and Americana artist Lindsay Lou joined in on the Old & In The Way favorite “Moonlight Midnight” at the end of set one.

That being said, the band’s most interesting choice during their New Year’s run was to weave their 2011, kazoo-driven track “Hot Dogs (On Parade)” throughout the weekend, using it as an opener on night one, dipping into it multiple times on night two, and finally playing an all acoustic guitar version as well as an audience-wide kazoo portion as an encore on New Year’s Eve. Not surprisingly, the band’s official flyer for the event depicted a hot dog.
