A number of musicians associated with Marco Benevento’s Royal Potato Family label will come together for a special performance during the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. Billed as The Royal Potato Family All-Stars, the ensemble will perform at New Orleans’ Blue Nile on May 4. In addition to Benevento, the group will bring together Greyboy Allstars/20th Congress keyboardist Robert Walter, Tea Leaf Green bassist Reed Mathis, saxophonist Skerik, percussionist Mike Dillon and Hairy Apes BMX drummer John Speice. The musicians will use songs from their individual catalogs as a launching pad for improvisation.
