My Morning Jacket frontman Jim James has released a song from his upcoming debut solo album Regions of Light and Sound of God. The new track, “A New Life”, was unveiled on Rolling Stone and can be heard here. Regions of Light and Sound of God will be available on February 5, 2013. Much of the album was inspired by Lynd Ward’s 1929 woodcut novel God’s Man, and “A New Life” deals with a particular scene in which the novel’s protagonist falls from a cliff. You can read an extensive feature on James in the current issue of Relix, which is on newsstands now and can be purchased here.
