Erstwhile Disco Biscuits guitarist Jon “The Barber” Gutwillig will perform at this spring’s Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival. But rather than playing guitar or even showing off his newfound DJ skills, Gutwillig will perform in the festival’ alternative comedy tent. Since moving to Brooklyn last year, Gutwillig has spent time working New York comedy clubs like Caroline’s, Gotham Comedy Club and the Upright Citizens Brigade. He also staged as a special Barber Banter stage show at Comedy Cellar last year that specialized in physical comedy. “From falling out of an air conditioning vent to smashing a bathroom stall to breaking my leg playing squash,” I’ve been working on this routine for quite some time,” Gutwillig says in a statement. “I’m working on a special set for Bonnaroo that involves a Barbershop Quartet reworking the Biscuits’ Hot Air Ballroom rock opera while running with scissors.”
