On October 20, New York’s Japan Society will host a show featuring the iconic, and recently reactivated, Japanese duo Cibo Matto. For this show, the duo, consisting of lead members Miho Hatori and Yuka Honda, will be joined by special guests including Wilco guitarist Nels Cline, drummer Yuko Araki (Cornelius), bassist Jesse Murphy (Brazilian Girls), instrumentalist Doug Wieselman (Anthony and The Johnsons) and vocalist Jared Geller. Following an extended hiatus, Cibo Matto reunited in March with a benefit concert for victims of the 2011 Japanese earthquake and tsunami that featured guest performers Yoko Ono, John Zorn, Sonic Youth and Mike Patton. In May, the group announced a full reunion and subsequently launched a tour titled “Yeah Basically Cibo Matto” that sold-out coveted venues across the US such as NYC’s Bowery Ballroom. For tickets to the Japan Society show, contact the box office at 212-715-1258 or visit www.japansociety.org.
