On January 20, Umphreys McGee will release its latest studio album, Mantis. The band opted to go in a new direction with this disc, explaining, While you may find one or two vaguely familiar passages on the new album, for all intents and purposes, this is an album consisting entirely of new music.’ The sextet likely will debut these tunes at its first shows following the release of Mantis. These gigs will take place in Colorado, with three dates currently confirmed: January 22 at the Aggie Theatre, January 23 at the Boulder Theater and January 24 at the Fillmore Auditorium.
Umphrey’s is off until next Thursday when it resumes its fall tour at the Canopy Club.
