Violin innovator, longtime David Grisman collaborator and Yonder Mountain String Band extended family member Darol Anger has reported some disconcerting health news on his MySpace page. As the result of a bicycle accident near his Portland, OR home, Anger has suffered a broken bone in his left wrist. While the initial prognosis indicated that it might take three months for the bone to heal, he has since offered a slightly more positive update. Anger reports, ‘New estimate and some second opinions on this wrist deal are expected soon… some hopeful signs. turns out the bone may not be broken all the way through, and has not been knocked out of place, so that means possibly a shorter recovery time if I don’t go out and do any competitive swimming, mountain climbing, or championship drinking. I’ll try to resist the temptation.’ At any rate, live gigs seem to be out of the picture for the immediate future.
