Guitarist Bryce Dessner and percussionist Glenn Kotche will co-headline a pair of shows at New Yorks The Kitchen this March. Dessner, who is best known for his work with The National, and Kotche, Wilcos longtime drummer, will play the experimental New York venue on March 13 and 14, offering an evening of noise-based improvisation, classical traditions and experimental new music. On both nights, Dessner will play a set of new compositions for guitar and string quartet, while Kotche is expected to perform works from his latest solo album Mobile, adaptations from his recent composition for the Kronos Quartet and new arrangements of Joao Gilberto, Steve Reich and Buddy Holly tunes. The pairs performances will also feature projections by celebrated visual artist Matthew Ritchie. Both Wilco and The National were highly praised in this years Jambands.com Staff Picks.
