On Saturday Mark Karan took the stage with RatDog for the first time since beginning chemotherapy at a Rex Foundation benefit held in San Franciscos The Warfield. The guitarist rejoined RatDog partway through their set for a lengthy selection of songs that included Brown-Eyed Women, Truckin, Even So, October Queen, The Deep End and The Other One. Near the end of the night he also helped his bandmates close their set with versions of Come Together and One More Saturday Night. As previously reported, RatDogs lineup was rounded out throughout the benefit by pedal steel guitarist Barry Sless, who has collaborated with Weir many times over the years. At the end of the night, the evenings opening acts, Little Feat and The Waybacks, took the stage with RatDog to close the evening with a version of Franklin’s Tower that also featured Kenny Brooks, Jay Lane and Jeff Chimentis Alphabet Soup collaborator Zacariah Mose and The Mo’fessionals Chris Burger.
