Last night Elvis Costello took the stage with Bob Dylan at Chicago Theater for the final night of their fall tour. While the first few shows of Costellos opening stint for Dylan were surprisingly free of collaborations, last week Costello took the stage with Dylan in St. Louis for a version of Tears of Rage near the end of The Bards set. Similarly, last night Costello and fellow opening act Amos Lee emerged during Dylans encore for a sing-a-long version of I Shall Be Released, before Dylan and his band finished out the night with versions of Thunder on the Mountain and All Along the Watchtower. Both Tears of Rage and I Shall Be Released are Dylan originals that his onetime backing group The Band recorded (Tears of Rage is actually a co-composition with The Bands Richard Manuel).
