Last night at the Magic City Music Hall in Johnson City, NY, Umphrey’s McGee continued its fall tour. Gongzilla opened the night and at the close of the evening, its guitarist Ben Lozaga took the stage with the Umph for a cover of the Talking Heads’ ‘Making Flippy Floppy.’ Gongzilla has been performing a series of post-Umphrey’s after-shows in October, which will wrap up this weekend with two special nights in New York City. On both Friday and Saturday after Umphrey’s wraps up its sets at the Nokia Theatre, Gongzilla will perform around the corner at B.B. King’s in Times Square, with UM guitarist Jake Cinninger appearing, as well as David ‘Fuze’ Fiuczynski (Screaming Headless Torsos). Also of note regarding the Nokia shows is that opening tomorrow night’s gig will be TRAGEDY: The Tri-State Area’s # 1 Metal Tribute to the Bee Gees.
