The Black Crowes summer tour veered south last week where the hard touring rock band linked up with a pair of old friends. While performing at Atlantas Chastain Park, the group invited out local hero Jimmy Herring for a first time cover of Johnny Winters Mean Town Blues and the Allman Brothers Bands Dreams. A few nights later the Crowes performed at Orange Beach, ALs The Wharf and brought out a member of the evenings opening act, the North Mississippi Allstars Luther Dickinson, for another version of Mean Town Blues, as well as My Morning Song. As previously reported, Dickinson appears on the Black Crowes forthcoming studio album. The Black Crowes will perform at Austin, TXs The Backyard tomorrow night.
