Chicagos Neighborhood Boys & Girls Club has assembled quite an event for late August. The Riverview Music Festival has been put together by the organization with proceeds to a benefit the NBGC, which works closely with community groups, area schools, and senior centers to offer athletic, social, recreational, cultural, computer, tutoring, leadership, and scholarship programs for boys and girls ages six and up. Umphreys McGee will show some local support and headline both days of Riverview, August 25 and 26. The North Mississippi Allstars, Tea Leaf Green, Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk, Banyan, Cornmeal, Brothers Past, Chicago Afrobeat Project and Andreas Kapsalis Trio also will participate. Late night separate-entry events also will take place with Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk (Saturday August 25) and Brothers Past (Sunday August 26). Two-day passes for festival proper are a very reasonable $35 through July 31, with ticket information and directions available at the Riverview site.
