St. Patricks Day weekend had a curious effect on RAQ. While performing at Fort Collins, COs Aggie Theater Sunday, the Vermont quartet offered an entire set of Frank Zappa covers. The group opened its performance with the 1973 Zappa single I Am The Slime and proceeded to offer such covers as Echidna’s Arf (Of You),
Andy, Carolina Hardcore Ecstasy, More Trouble Everyday, Dirty Love,
Son of Mr. Green Genes, and My Guitar Wants To Kill Your Mama. The group closed its first set with a take on the Allman Brothers Bands Whipping Post, a number Zappa frequently covered in the early-1980s. RAQ then offered a second set of original numbers and a four song encore which included the Kinks All Day And All Of The Night. RAQ will perform at Omaha, NEs Club Roxbury tomorrow.
