Last night Umphreys McGee opened a brief run with former King Crimson guitarist Adrian Belew at Urbana, ILs Canopy Club. In addition to opening for the Chicago favorites, Belew joined Umphreys McGee onstage at various points throughout their set. First, he appeared during the groups second set for a cover of the Beatles I am the Walrus and King Crimsons Red (which Umphreys McGee has been covering since 2005). Then he returned during Umphreys McGees encore for a Jimmy Stewart’ segment and a first time cover of King Crimsons Thela Hun Ginjeet. Umphreys McGee and Belew will appear tonight at Grand Rapids, MIs The Orbit Room.
