Papa Grows Funk guitarist June Yamagishi, whose career began in his native Japan during the early 1970s with the West Road Blues Band, will be returning to his homeland with PGF later this month. Yamagishi will participate in the Lightning Blues Guitar Sessions Tour which will showcase nine Japanese guitarists. While this will be exhibition and not a competition, Yamagishi may well have the upper hand as Papa Grows Funk will be the backing band for all of the performers. In betewen these dates the group also will perform its own gigs, remaining in the country well into August.
