As many of our readers will recall, on October 22, 2001 Derek Trucks Band drummer Yonrico Scott suffered a dissecting aortal aneurysm which required emergency open-heart surgery (one extraordinary aspect is he drove himself to the hospital in the midst of this episode). While Scott is now on the mend, he still retains an extensive medical expenses (health insurance remains an issue for many touring musicians). In response, a number of his fans have established a medical fund and are encouraging other individuals to donate five dollars apiece (with the support and oversight of DTB management). The details can be found at 5in5foryonrico.com.
