Last night, Donna Jean Godchaux-MacKay joined Dark Star Orchestra onstage at The Mercy Lounge in Nashville, TN. The former Grateful Dead vocalist helped the lauded cover band interpret The Deads October 14, 1977 performance at the Hofheinz Pavilion in Houston, TX. Godchaux-MacKay sat in at various points throughout the evening, adding vocals to numbers such as Half Step, Loser, Brown Eyed Women and Around and Around. On several songs, including an encore version of Catfish John, the singer shared vocal duties with Lisa Mackey, who usually plays Donna Jean in DSO. Noted Nashville bassist Byron House also added some low-end notes to the groups set. Later this week, Dark Star will release _ Live at the Fillmore _, a DVD/CD recorded in May 2004 with special guest Donna Jean.
