Following up on yesterday’s Jambands.com news, Michigan Mike Torpie did indeed win a seat on the Nederland Board of Trustees. Torpie, the founder of Nedfest (which will take place on August 7 and 8, with a line-up that includes The Tony Trischka Band, The Motet and Garaj Mahal), who lost by a single vote in his last attempt, received the third of three open seats, outdistancing the next candidate by a dozen votes. Perhaps a celebratory installment of the Nederland Acid Jazz gig will take place next Monday at Nederland’s Pioneer Inn.
