Vibraphonist Stefon Harris, who Jambands.com readers may know best from his role in Charlie Hunter’s Pound For Pound (Return of the Candyman) has formed a new group that will meld jazz, r & b and hip hop. Blackout also incliudes saxophonist Casey Benjamin (Project Logic), keyboardist Marc Cary (Abbey Lincoln, Roy Hargrove), bassist Darryl Hall, and drummer Terreon Gully. The group’s new disc Evolution will be released on April 20 with a tour that opens on April 24 at Lawrence University in Appleton, WI.
In altogether different Blackout news, Deep Banana Blackout will perform tomorrow night at Higher Ground in Winooski, VT.
